Albergo Villa Marta

Located in the countryside outside of Lucca, Villa Marta offers a tranquil, home-like alternative in this history-rich area. A 16th century villa, it was completely restored and opened in April 2005. The owner-manager is hands on. We observed an Australian group in house when we were there and they obviously had a strong rapport with Andrea Martinelli, the owner.

There is a hillside of olive trees, which belongs to the owner and can be seen from the beautiful outdoor pool. He told us that massages can be arranged by the pool.

Rooms have mini bar, A/C, hair dryers and there is also a complimentary internet point in the hotel. The only safe is at reception. There are 15 rooms, 2 of which connect. Families are welcome. One interesting detail is the changing art exhibit in the reception area rooms (changes every 3 months). There is also a chapel on the property and weddings can be held there. For wedding parties, there is a 4-night minimum. There is also a lovely outdoor lounge for use during warm weather.

The owner's wife is the chef and prepares Tuscan cuisine. The restaurant serves three meals per day.
