This is another of JDB's most popular hotels in Venice thanks in great part to the hotel's ever-present and pleasant manager who is brilliant at looking after JDB clients and assigning them the best accommodations. Facing on the small canal which runs under the Bridge of Sighs, it offers a wonderful choice in Venice just a few steps from St. Mark's Square.
Rooms feature all modern amenities and 17 have a view of the small canal and the Bridge of Sighs. (The hotel makes every effort to assign JDB clients the rooms facing on the small canal.) The rest of the rooms face a quiet internal courtyard. Two rooms have a terrace, one of which is quite large, with a view of the rooftops of Venice. Included among the accommodations in the main building are three spacious and elegant suites: the Fenice Suite with two large bedrooms, a large sitting room and bath; the one-bedroom Doge Suite with separate living room and bath; and the Rialto Suite, also a one bedroom one bathroom suite but with a private rooftop terrace perfect for an aperitivo in the afternoon. These accommodations are perfectly suited for families.
A recent renovation of the dependence Locanda Remedio, the hotel's 3-star annex with even more attractive room rates, provides access to the building through the typical Venetian courtyard, something that was not previously available. Rooms here, while somewhat smaller, offer all modern amenities.
While lobby space is not large, many guests enjoy reading the paper or having a coffee there. On the same level is the hotel's breakfast room. Concierge service is available. Staff is excellent.
NOTE: SAN MARCO is the closest stop when guests are taking the public vaporetto. There is a waterfront entrance at the hotel for private taxi boats.
