Jerez de la Frontera: Andalusian Horses and Superb Sherry
5 Hours
Discover the wonders of the southernmost part of Spain in Jerez de la Frontera, known worldwide for its sherry and brandy production and famous for its fine Andalusian horses and flamenco music and dance. Our English speaking guide will meet you at 10:30 a.m. at your hotel for a visit to either the Yeguada de la Cartuja stud farm to see the thoroughbred Spanish horse of the Carthusian line (available on Saturday only), or to the Real Escuela Andaluza del Arte Ecuestre, an equestrian training school renowned for its magnificent dressage techniques and, on Tuesdays and Thursdays only, offering an authentic equestrian ballet. Lunch (optional, additional charge) can be enjoyed at a typical Andalusian tapas bar. Your journey continues with a walking tour through the historic area of Jerez with its beautiful palmlined squares, the Alcázar, former residence of Seville's caliphs during the long Moorish reign, and then to the famous bodegas of Gonzalez Byass where you can enjoy a tour through sherry making history, taste a selection of sherries and learn about the heritage of this great Andalusian tradition.
