VENICE, Italy - Private Transfers Tours & Transfers Main | Italy Tours & Transfers JDB Transfers do not have to be booked in conjunction with a hotel booking, private villa or apartment rental. Most vehicles used for transfers are Mercedes E-class, V-class & 16 seat minibuses. However, JDB Ground retains the right to substitute a different vehicle type if necessary. Although we strive to find fluent English speaking drivers, at times we must rely on drivers whose knowledge of English is limited to basic communication. Drivers are not guides; their responsibility is to transport clients in comfort and safety. In Italy, countryside and city roads are often narrow; therefore Italian vehicles are smaller than those in the U.S., and airconditioning is not as cold as in U.S. cars. Rates for the most frequently requested transfers are listed below, and are subject to change. Clients who arrive late for a transfer - that is do not exit the airport customs area within an hour of the flight's arrival - will be responsible for charges for driver waiting time. Should the client miss the scheduled transfer for any reason, the client will be charged the full fee for the missed transfer and is not entitled to a refund. Please advise at the time of booking if the client has a physical disability, if there are children needing a car seat, or if clients have more than one suitcase and carry on bag each. If additional porterage fees to Non JDB hotels apply, you will be advised as soon as your request is reviewed by JDB Ground. Venice Private Boat transfer prices include one piece of luggage per person; € 4 for each additional piece is to be paid directly to the assistant. For transfers between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., add 25% to the price. There is a € 40 fee for delayed arrivals of more than 45 minutes at the train station or Piazzale Roma. There is no charge for delayed flights. In Venice, the JDB Assistant is a coordinator, and as such greets the client, arranges for porters (if possible), coordinates private boat at arrival/departure dock, and (for Deluxe Transfers) accompanies the clients on the entire transfer. By Venice law, Assistants in Venice are not allowed to carry luggage. Venice City Porters are only available in limited areas of Venice, and often not at all. Union regulations prohibit hotels from sending hotel porters off the hotel property to public docks to collect luggage. As JDB Assistants are not allowed to transport luggage, JDB clients staying at hotels without a private dock may have to transport their own luggage from the closest Venice dock to their hotel. Further, during inclement weather, either high or low tides may prevent boats from docking at some of the smaller canals where a hotel may have a private dock; clients will be dropped off at the closest operating dock to the hotel. NOTE: Porterage between the Venice hotel and Venice dock is not included. Clients traveling with more than one bag per person may require two boats. Private Boat Transfers - Standard Standard airport arrival transfer includes initial porterage, airport shuttle* to a private boat, and transfer to the closest dock to the hotel. Standard arrival transfer from the train station includes porterage to the dock (a short walk from the station) and transfer by private boat to the closest dock to the hotel. Transfer of luggage from the dock in Venice to the hotel** is not included. Standard departure transfer includes greeting by assistant in the hotel lobby, and private boat transfer to the dock of the airport (airport shuttle* to the terminal) or train station. For hotels without their own dock, the assistant will secure the service of a city porter, when available, to transfer the luggage from the hotel to the Venice dock; clients will pay the porter directly. In the event a city porter is not available, the client may have to transport their luggage from the hotel to the dock. No porterage is included, but porters are available for hire at the airport and train station docks. * Sporadically the Venice airport complimentary shuttle ceases operation; in that instance clients may have to walk (10 minutes) between the airport terminal and the dock with their luggage. For clients not able to do this, JDB recommends a deluxe transfer that includes a transfer to and from the terminal. Porterage is included to the airport/train station/Piazzale Roma dock in Venice. For hotels without their own dock, the assistant will secure the service of a city porter, if available; clients will pay the porter directly. In the event a city porter is not available, the client may have to transport their luggage to the hotel. Deluxe departure transfers include the services of an assistant from the hotel lobby to check-in at the airport or train station. Transfer is by private boat to the dock of the airport or train station, and for airport departures, transfer to the terminal by private car or shuttle is included. Porterage is provided from the dock in Venice to airport or train check-in. For hotels without their own dock, the assistant will secure the service of a city porter, when available, to transfer the luggage from the hotel to the Venice dock; clients will pay the porter directly. In the event a city porter is not available, the client may have to transport their luggage from the hotel to the dock. For clients departing by train, the assistant will help get their tickets stamped and take them to the appropriate track while the porter arrives with their luggage. NOTE: In the event of inclement weather or tide problems in Venice, clients may not be able to use the dock closest to their hotel.
